Godspell

August 15 - September 7, 2008

by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak

Directed by Frankie Flores
Musical Direction by Phyllis Haris
Choreography by Sandi Morgan

Godspell reminds us of a culture long gone, peace demonstrations, flower power, "big hair", bright colors, folk rock music, and loud expressive clothing. These are the props of choice used to communicate the gospel message. Godspell is fun and viewed in the context of early seventies culture it contains a powerful and relevant message that impacted a searching audience.

  Choreographer Sandi Morgan
Sandi Morgan is thrilled to return to PLT as choreographer for Godspell in celebration of her thirty years as a musical choreographer. Her first musical ever to choreograph with the late, great San Jacinto College theater director, Jerry Powell, was Godspell in 1978. From that moment on she was hooked and has continued to choreograph more than twenty musicals as a professor of physical education and dance at San Jac. The first one Sandi did for a community theater was 4 (Sandi Morgan, cont'd) Little Shop (~f Horrors directed by none other than Frankie Flores at PLT. So the first show and first director came together and created this wonderful opportunity for her this summer. Other shows she has done at PL T include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Grease, Nuncrackers, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. As an actress, some of Sandi's favorite roles have been Tessie in Gypsy, Betty Meeks in The Foreigner and Abbey in The Musical of Musicals. Sandi is currently performing in Company at Island ETC in Galveston. She sends her love and thanks to her family for supporting her theatrical endeavors and to Frankie and this amazing cast for allowing her to be a part of their beautiful production.
