Helsa Wenzel Helsa is the maid of the Grossenknueten estate who is killed in the first scene of the play, only to be inpersonated by her twin brother, Dieter, who later appears as a cook. One actress plays all parts. Age 20 to 40
Elsa Von Grossenknueten Elsa is the owner of the mansion and is the financial backer of many musicals. She is extremely eccentric, and thinks that the idea of chasing after a killer is great fun. Age 40 to 60 plus
Michael Kelly Kelly is an undercover cop. Elsa appeals to him to help solve the mystery of the Stage Door Slasher. Age 35 plus
Patrick O'Reilly O'Reilly claims to be an Irish tenor, but he is very suspicious, especially in regards to the mysterious Helsa. Age 35 plus
Ken De La Maize Ken is a "typical" director, speaking of theater as a "pure art." Age 50 plus
Nikki Crandall Nikki is considered a typical chorus girl-but she is eventually revealed to be Ensign Nicole Crandall, of United States Naval Intelligence. Age 20 to 30
Eddie McCuen Eddie is the out of work comedian that ties the different story lines together. Age 20 to 30
Marjorie Baverstock Marjorie is a Broadway producer, a flatterer who speaks in her own affected language, her new word" is "divoon." Age 40 plus
Roger Hopewell Roger is the composer and Bernice's partner; the two have had a string of Broadway hits. Age 35 plus
Bernice Roth Bernice is the lyricist and Roger's partner. She is very odd and emotional, frequently losing her composure and screaming. Age 35 plus
